Volunteer

We need over 350 volunteers on Sunday, August 24, 2008. All shifts are on Sunday August 24 except for the Saturday Setup shift. All volunteers will receive a T-shirt, and there will be food and beverages available. The first 200 volunteers to sign up and attend a volunteer orientation will receive 1 free ticket to a Giants Game on either September 5th, 6th or 7th. At Plate to Plate Volunteer check-in on August 24th each volunteer will select the game of their choice and indicate which volunteers they would like to sit next to at the game. Tickets will be mailed after Plate to Plate.

It is strongly encouraged that volunteers attend one volunteer orientation. They are:

Thursday, August 7th at 6:30 p.m. at Project Open Hand 4th Floor (730 Polk Street , San Francisco)

Saturday, August 9th at 11 a.m. at Project Open Hand 4th Floor (730 Polk Street , San Francisco)

Here is a list of volunteer opportunities for the weekend of the event. We appreciate your flexibility in being available for whatever task may be required during the time that you sign up. Volunteer Check-In / Breakfast Team Greet volunteers, sign them in - have them sign a waiver form if this has not already been taken care of beforehand, give t-shirt, etc. coordinate volunteer assignment. Provide food and beverages for volunteers. 10 6:00 a.m. 6:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
VIP/Sponsor Check In Greet VIPs/sponsors, provide secured area for their belongings, stock food and beverages, and provide barrier monitoring to keep area secure 15 6:30 a.m. 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
Day of Registration Sign up participants, assign bib number, have participants sign the race waiver form, individuals will also be stationed along the waiting line to help people fill out forms 25 6:30 a.m. 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Pre-registration Bib Distribution Distribute bibs to pre-registered participants who registered after the cutoff date to mail bibs 10 6:30 a.m. 7:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Sweats Check (Shift 1) Keep clothing for participants 15 7:15 a.m. 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Pledge Collection/Counting Collecting day of pledges and counting and adding to participant totals to determine incentive awards. 25 7:00 a.m. 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Course Monitors/Water Stations Help with course operations, including safety monitors, water/aid stations 65 7:00 a.m. 7:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
